Τα νομίσματα των Περαιβαίων

1)PERRHAEBI. Obol. 480-400. Pferd galoppiert l. Rs: Athena r. mit Speer und Schild in Quadratum incusum. SNG COP. 195. 0,87g. Kl. Randausbruch







2)THESSALY, The Perrhaebi. Circa 450-400 BC. AR Hemidrachm (2.99 gm). Nude Thessalian youth (Thessalos) trying to restrain bull / Forepart of horse right; P-E. SNG Copenhagen -; SNG Fitzwilliam 2429 (same dies); Weber 2887. Choice EF. Rare. ($2500)
The obverse refers to the popular Thessalian sport of taurokathapsia which finds its form in modern day bull wrestling in rodeos.






3)THESSALY, The Perrhaebi . Circa 400-344 BC. Æ 20mm (8.59 gm). Veiled head of Hera facing, head turned slightly left / PERRAI-BW[N], Zeus standing facing, holding thunderbolt in right hand, reversed spear in left. SNG Copenhagen 196; BMC Thessaly -; Laffaille -. EF/VF, glossy greenish brown patina. Very rare.






4)THESSALY, Perrhaiboi. Circa 197-146 BC. AR Drachm (3.88 g, 1h). Laureate head of Zeus right / Hera seated right, holding scepter. Cf. Moustaka 17 (Æ); SNG Copenhagen -; SNG München -; BMC -; McClean 4665. Good VF, toned. Extremely rare.

5)THESSALY, Perrhaiboi. Circa 462/1-460 BC. AR Obol (0.78 g, 6h). Head of bull facing / Head and neck of horse right within incuse square. Liampi, Corpus, group I, III.1 (V1/R1); SNG Copenhagen -; Tkalec (1991), lot 116 (same dies). VF, lightly toned, reverse a little rough. Extremely rare, only five examples recorded by Liampi.



6)THESSALY, Perrhaiboi. Circa 462/1-460 BC. AR Obol (0.89 g, 1h). Forepart of bull left, head reverted / Head and neck of horse right in incuse square. Liampi, Corpus, group I, III.3 (V3/R2); SNG Copenhagen -; SNG München -; cf. Traité IV 579 = BMC 9. Good VF, light porosity, die break on reverse. Very rare, only two examples noted by Liampi.



7)THESSALY, Perrhaiboi. Circa 470-400 BC. AR Hemiobol (0.38 g, 3h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Forepart of horse right in incuse square. SNG Copenhagen -; Traité IV 580. VF, minor porosity. Extremely rare.
